Colegio Americano de San Carlos (CASC) is one of Guaymas’ premier bilingual Catholic private schools (Spanish and English), with over 550 students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12. CASC has teaching positions available for the 2011-2012 school term (to start in August, 2011), and we are seeking experienced/certified American or Canadian teachers to teach in English to Spanish speaking students.

Our ideal candidate will have, at minimum:
-a teacher’s degree (i.e. Bachelor’s degree in Education (some of our teachers also have their Masters in Education), and;
-the TEFL/TESOL or some other equivalent qualifications, and;
-teaching experience, either in the US/Canada, with school-aged students, or similar teaching experience abroad (i.e. China, Ukraine, Korea, etc.)

Compensation:
Currently, teachers working full-time at the school are paid $10,000 pesos each month (this is net of all deductions), and the school will help you to find accommodations. The cost of living in Mexico is about 2/3 that of the US & Canada. American/Canadian teachers have found that this salary allows them to pay for utilities, food, gas, and other living expenses while working and living abroad.

There may be opportunities to earn additional wages based on your skill sets and the value they bring to the school (i.e. after-school coaching, tutoring, etc).

Additional Benefits:
*In order to work in Mexico, you are required to have a Working Visa. Colegio Americano will help you to secure this Visa at the school’s expense.
*Bus travel to Colegio Americano (if you ride the school’s bus) will be offered at a discount for teachers.
*Spanish language classes are free.
*Use of the school’s facilities and extra-curricular classes are free (i.e. swimming pool, tennis courts, yoga, pilates, taekwondo, etc).
*You are required to have medical insurance to work here. The school offers an affordable medical insurance plan and pays a portion of the premium on your behalf.
*If you have children, the school’s tuition costs for them are free, and they receive a discount on extra-curricular activities. However, uniforms, books, costume for school plays, etc. are at the teacher’s expense.

Our Location:
The 6.2 acre campus is located in Miramar, an upscale district in the city of Guaymas (population of 130,000), approx. 20 km south of the lovely Mexican resort community of San Carlos. Guaymas and San Carlos are situated on the Sea of Cortez (a 4-hour drive south of the US-Arizona State border) and are known for their beautiful sand beaches, spectacular diving and snorkeling, kayaking, and offshore fishing.
