Two posts removed.

Mr Chips this is a pro-teacher site.  You have strong feelings, please post them somewhere more appropriate.  Similarly, if you must gossip and indulge in rumours regarding allegations of criminal activity - here is not the place.

Sorry about my post Hero. but it wasn't gossip I was just making sarcastic comments about the heavy handed treatmenmt of the two foreign teachers who had been sent to prison for 3 months and the support the Thai PE teachers who were accused of a far more serious crime had received from their administration. The rape case was a big thing about three months ago.

Yo dudes, foreign or local teachers deserve the same protection and no distinction is made in what we allow or don't allow. Got it? Let's not go too far off topic. I did a lookie at ol Chips post and it could have been taken two ways, but all is cool now.

It ain't right that school freakin hung out two teachers to dry in the Bangkok Hilton. Stupid freakin flooser school if you ask me. Just wait till ya see what is awaitin' this school.

Bewildered makes a good point and is a highly articulate and shrewd poster. However I think the subject matter is so grave that it is best not to make any postings at all: we can speculate on a lot of matters but surely not this one. Maybe, it is time that we received guidance from the web master.

I second that FG, last thing I'd wanna see is someone getting in a whole lotta strife for something posted on a forum, and right now we don't really know what's going down.

That guidance is coming, just dottin' the i's and crossin' the t's.

I've tried to be laisez faire over the last 6 weeks cuz I want this community to develop not around a central figure. One dude takes charge and is easy to cut down. In the last month, we've really solidified ourselves as a community. We are now 1 year old.

On this issue, the guidance is comin'.

About thais vs foreigners, I see things from a distance. It ain't about them treatin' foreigner teachers like crap and thai teachers like golden boys. No way, that's looking at the issue from the wrong perspectives. What's the problem is their mistreatment of teachers. That's the issue, it's got nothin' to do with nationality, but yo, maybe it does. Maybe they are racist. I don't know, but y'all can indulge a bit and try to be constructive. I split this off into a new thread because it's something that should be talked about. I ain't ready to sweep it under the rug or we could just change our name to  Ajarn Forum.

Peace Out!

I posted this on the schools raided thread.  I think it's important we keep the ball rolling.

Problem is Hero that raids will happen again and again. A low profile effectively means doing nothing really and that is not a satisfactory situation as it suits the powers that be (including dodgy schools).  We still don't even know what happened to the 60 odd others.

The schools are the softest underbelly and I really believe some measures must be taken against them for the greater protection of all.

There  needs to be an info. campaign warning would be teachers coming to Thailand about the general political climate, the dangers of false documentation, and the dishonesty of many schools. Articles should appear on the home page of leading sites.  I can see a strategic gain here.

My only comfort at the moment is the sure knowledge that the Thai system will likely be very short of English teachers qualified or not in the not too distant future.

An info campaign as suggested by fortuneguy probably would do us in Thailand a lot of good not to mention help teachers elsewhere by warning them about Thailand. If we can turn the screws ourselves, the schools and the government bureaucracy might start to squeal and squirm a bit, which would be a good start.
