I did my TEFL with these guys when the fees were reasonable. The South African TEFL instructor was great. Courses were more or less full and it was a blast. I still keep in regular contact with the staff as I still do some work for them. The course is geared towards Asian students which I found extremely useful. I did a pre-CELTA in the UK which was a lot broader and less useful for Thailand.

The course enroller is a nice guy who is full of knowledge.

Things have changed over the years including the price.

On a scale of 1-10 I would give them an 8 for when I did my course a few years ago. Onward and err...

I spoke with some guys that took the course in Chiang Mai.  They were making 25,000 per month up there--thanks a lot.

Ask yourself three questions before handing this school your money

1) Why is their amateur-style website riddled with mistruths and unpleasantness?
2) Why do they employ a shill salesman, kenkannif, to lurk on forums to charm and bait potential customers?
3) Do you want to attend a school that is not honest, open, and professional in its public relations?

Look at Text and Talk's banner on ajarn.com. It says "Worldwide accreditation". Then phone Leigh, their salesman, and ask him to provide details. He won't be able to, because it is bullshit.
Don't believe me? Do a simple search for it or "international TEFL accreditation" on google and see how the liars who use this kind of con are described.

Good question...........answers on a postcard please.

Word is that T&T are, for want of a better word, pants  . They use family friends for teaching practice , the trainers can't relate to joe public  :shoothead:and they favour passive trainees who they can hire and set up with shitt* working conditions - to the extend that course grades are, how can one put this..........., reflective of one's personality rather than than one's teaching ability.

If this is Smeg, he certainly has a right to air his views on here. Just because his views have been tarnished by another "teaching" website does not mean we have to follow the same line!

samvines, my questions to the poster related first of all to whether he was Smeg.  His post offered three questions which I will now answer again:

1) Why is their amateur-style website riddled with mistruths and unpleasantness?
It is no longer so amateur in appearance.
2) Why do they employ a shill salesman, kenkannif, to lurk on forums to charm and bait potential customers?
(did not address this one, but) We all know or suspect that kenkannif is Leigh.  That complaint refers to the teaching website where he posts most frequently.  Most salesmen can be clever and slippery, if you have tried to buy a used car.
3) Do you want to attend a school that is not honest, open, and professional in its public relations?
This one is debatable.  TEFL course providers are not the world's most respected profession.

As for 7baht, 42,500 baht per month to teach 25 hours per week may be fair money for a lot of work, if you are starting out.  If you can do better, go find 50K/month for 20 hours/week.
