In May, he got a job at Bangkok Christian College, an elite, 5,000-student grade school and high school for boys, according to a teacher at the school who requested anonymity for fear of being fired.

"This is the power base of wealthy families," said the teacher. "The sons of government ministers attend the school. They really protect their image."

Karr previously taught a class for 6- and 7-year-old boys but was fired about a month into his three-month trial period, the teacher said, because he would yell at kids and was extremely strict with them.

"He just reminded me of another kooky teacher who was out of place," the teacher said. "He didn't smile. He wasn't friendly. He kept to himself."

Karr, 41, was arrested at a Bangkok apartment Wednesday.

He had just begun to teach at Bangkok Christian College, Thailand's oldest private school, which was established by American Presbyterian missionaries in 1852, school officials said. The school, which has about 5,000 male students in 12 grades, employs several foreign teachers for its English courses.

but he is, in my opinion, one sick puppy.

And I give the guy kudos for having one hell of a good story.

Can you imagine how much he will get for the book rights? He's got himself some fame, he dragged the names of two prominent Thai schools through the mud, he got a free Business class trip back to the US. Now, he will face little jail time back in Cali for kiddie porn, but will be free to hit the road after he served his time. Wonder if Thailand will let him in?

By that time, even if it's only a couple of months, they will have forgotten all about him!

Kincaid International School???

Check this out:  [http://rtv.rtrlondon.co.uk/2006-08-26/30b5de4c.html]

The 41-year-old suspect was just hired at the Kincaid International
School of Bangkok before he was deported back to the United States. Foreigners
such as Karr come to Bangkok thinking that their ability to speak English
qualifies them to teach the language, explains Dr. Steven Harris, the head
master at the Kincaid International School.
"There is an impression in the West that you can see the world and
work as an English teacher, so that misperception has led to a lot of people
coming in who have barely enough money to survive a day or two and seeking
jobs in the field of education, because one qualification of being able to
speak English is considered a valid qualification which in fact is not
true," said Dr. Harris.

A series of posts have been deleted for obsessing over potentially criminal sexuality of various persons at certain schools.  Please stay topical and polite, and abide by our forum's policy regarding allegations of sexual crime.

US judge drops Karr porn charges

Mr Karr was extradited to the US from Thailand in August

A judge has dismissed child pornography charges against a former suspect in the killing of US child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey.

Prosecutors in Santa Rosa, California, said they did not have enough evidence to proceed against John Mark Karr.

Mr Karr was recently investigated over the 1996 death of JonBenet Ramsey after he claimed to have killed her, but DNA tests cleared him of the crime.

Mr Karr, 41, was extradited to the US from Thailand in August.

Judge Rene Chouteau has now ordered Mr Karr's immediate release.

Forensic tests

Mr Karr's arrest in Thailand sparked hopes in the US that one of the most infamous crimes of recent years might finally be solved.

The former teacher had said he was with six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey when she died, but that her death was an accident.

However, the case against him was dropped after forensic tests found that his DNA did not match that discovered at the scene of the crime.

Mr Karr remained in police custody, following a request that he be taken to California to face child pornography charges dating back to 2001.

JonBenet's body was found in the cellar of her family home after her parents had reported her missing on 26 December 1996.

She had been garrotted with a cord and her skull had been fractured.

JonBenet's family, who later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, fought for years to clear their names of persistent accusations that they were involved in the death of their daughter.

So, there is really no reason for him not to comeback to Thailand and teach, and of course sue the police or any one else for that matter for wrongful arrest. What a wonderful world... {}}
