"Canada" "International" "School" or CIS
« on: July 08, 2006, 11:33:28 PM »
This is a school that only hires certified teachers.

If you have super powers, an incredible resilience to incompetence and stress or enjoy self-abuse.... This is the place for you!!!

To all others who think they're going to teach in an organized international school, that values education, please, run, run away and don't look back.  Remember the gong show?  Think that.

We're talking changes to the curriculum without consideration of teachers, pickiest parents in Gangnam, crying stressed out Canadian teachers, no preparation time or support, stealing teaching creativity for public documents, responsibility for two grade levels from the BC curriculum, a mind boggling turnover of Korean staff, no pension (they told new staff it is included in their contract salary, not so!-- check out the efllaw.com)  and general mayhem.  Costs are over 1000$ US per month for one student, so you can imagine the parents want us to wipe the little ones with golden toilet paper.  If you fight for your rights, you'll get fired with no warning letters (even though there is a warning letter clause in the contract).

Imagine if your school principal has no experience or training in education... now imagine what happens when the majority of the aministrative and and supervisory staff have no idea about education either.  Exactly.  >:D

There are several good schools in Seoul that offer VACATION (we're talking 2 months!) for certified teachers.  If you are a certified teacher don't waste your time on those 2 weeks a year vacation jobs.  Instead, take a small pay cut in return for your sanity.  This school added 5 years to my life!!!  I feel emontionally drained as do all teachers who come through there.

To all those still teaching there:  God speed, my friends, god speed!
