shane-english-schools

Anyone got an opinion on the above?

I came across this interesting link http://www.aacircle.com.au/forums/esl-black-list/3367-shane-english-schools-japan-china.html and thought, given the amount of recruiting they do in Thailand, it should be given a wider audience.

Anyone got first hand experience of them?

To be fair the negative post was for Shane schools in China while the other posts were either complimentary or berating the teacher in China for not realising what he was letting himself in for. Did the thread deserve a wider audience for positive or negative reasons?

I have very little interest in schools and teachers and recruiting for any country other than Thailand, but Dave Roberts, who recruits for Shane Taiwan and Japan did invite me to see one of his presentations at The Ambassador Hotel some months ago. They seem very organised and offer a fairly decent package for the Taiwan or Japanese newbie. I'm sure you could do better but I'd hate to arrive in Japan with nothing but a suitcase and a map. Shane sort out all your accommodation for you.

My interest is in others first hand experience of the company, personally I won't be going to China to teach (or Japan or Taiwan) for Shane or any other company.

But I wouldn't like to think of others who are currently teaching in Thailand packing everything they have into a suitcase jumping onto the plane to land their dream job in Kunming, Chengdu, Chongqing or wherever only to discover things aren't quite what they expected.

Indeed the chap in China also claims Shane Japan is much better than China.

The purpose of giving the link a wider audience is purely to determine if the guy in China is a one off dimwit or if his experiences are the norm, whether it is positive or negative would be reliant on others experiences. Forewarned is forearmed, is it not?
