Satit Bilingual School of Rangsit University

Definitely a candidate for the Hall of Shame. Reneged on end-of-contract air tickets. A sad end to two years of mostly positive employee-employer relations.

You think that they should be a Hall of Shame candidate because they reneged on end-of-contract air tickets?
If that is your only complaint, you should consider yourself very fortunate.

Thanks, Tainted. SBS probably agrees with you that I should consider myself very fortunate. Many others have suffered worse than I.
The seriousness of the fraud lies, not in my shameful self-pity, but in the number of people affected (all foreign teachers at the school) and the amount involved (high cost of tickets purchased at short notice by teachers multiplied by their number). But, hey, who gives a shit about them? I've got my own problems.

So how many of the teachers including you left (did not renew your contract)?  Just curious.  And could you be more specific about the other problems.....I saw ads by this school not long ago.

There is nothing wrong with Satit. They pay well and on time. Has to be one of the highest paying schools I've ever seen. Facilities are good. Very young school, only 2 years old and trying to improve. Every school in thailand steals money. so, i don't understand what's the big deal. how much they steal and who does it is none of my business. all I want to know is that my check is there and on time at the end of the month. The rest of it is T.I.T.

Go tell the police  {j<o> . when they stop laughing let me know what they said about your tickets.

 ^^^^

I am not wanting to start a war of words, but this type of farang "T.I.T" philosphy, like "mai ben rai", is a contributing cause to the problems at schools here.

You can't say there is nothing wrong with Satit Rangsit IF they have broken the contract of so many teachers.  Who cares about the facilities because schools should be more than just a building or buildings that are well stocked and look good!  According to Labour Law, it is their duty to pay on time so no extra points there.  And how much do they actually pay that you jump so quickly to their defense?

Not every school in Thailand steals money, but, yes, on the most part, schools do like to cut corners where they can.  Schools are, after all, a business here.

The advice, mustafarodupyourpoopr, you give is poor.  If one wants to lodge a complaint, they have to go to the Labour Ministry, not the police.

rolling stone,
Thanks for the heads-up on this disgraceful theft of your (and your colleagues') wages.  As for the "just-lay-back-and-enjoy-getting-raped" attitude of Tainted Teacher and mustlefthisbrainsomewhere, that doesn't help you or other Satit teachers who needed to pay premium dollars for last-minute airfares.

Out of curiosity, since you enjoyed a relatively positive working relationship at the school for two years, how did the Thai administrators explain their reneging on the air tix?

As mentioned by others, you should go to the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.... International Labour Affairs Division in the ministry of Labour and Social Welfare at Mitmaitri RD, Dindaeng, BKK. They stay at 11th fl.

If You could get together with a common case your will be sure to Win - even in Thailand.

This department have many chief officiers who speaks very well english and they gets complaint every day from foreigners here.

I got a direct phone number and a person you should contact - PM me and I will provide your with these informations.....

Go ahead and sure a school like this needs to be in the hall of shame....

This school where I currently work also keeps both copies of your Teachers License, just for safe keeping. The school is going through Turmoil at present, due to the fact that the last principal ( now gone to China) rightly installed an IGCSE program, now its being changed back to a Thai Curriculum. Last year 130 or so students left, its true to say that about 100 joined. The management is in total disarray, how can we be expected to Teach Children a curriculum if the school itself has no Direction. Its just a very expensive Thai government school now, but as a colleague said the uniforms look good, as to backtracking on contracts, I agree with the others that said about being raped, it is true every word. Thailand needs good schools not ones like this.

Only international schools can become centres for Cambridge Examinations. I know because I checked with their regional coordinator in Singapore. Perhaps that is why they went back to a Thai curric'.

This School has been a total and utter mess for a long time, yes they might pay above average, but the management truly sucks, no one makes a decision, or is qualified to do so, its just a Thai mess as usual, they have many super stars of thai education but why oh why does it need to recruit every week almost. I will tell you why, people are wise to it, parents getting so thats why they leave in 100's a year. With the hindsight of the Mr Karr situation in Thailand, this school has many who bat for the other side, inc management.
A candidate for the hall of shame, certainly its worst than Siam International.

How right you are, I've worked in several schools in Asia and the Uk over the years and I have never come across such a two-faced, disorganised, lying, stealing and incompentant bunch of people in all my years. You couldn't trust them one inch and the way they treat staff is disgusting. Anybody who considers working there needs to reconsider very quickly.

Clearly all is not well at Satit, and those who suggest that teachers should just accept the decision of the school not to pay airfare costs back to the teachers are a part of the problem.

If you take it easy on the school and take "musthave........" advice, what next? reduced wages? no overtime? no end of year bonus? If it was agreed that the school would pay airfares then pay they should.

I would be interested to know some more details regarding other shenanigans the school have been up to. Do not get angry, u mention that they are they most two faced, disorganized, lying, etc. school you have ever worked for, any chance you can put some meat on the bones and throw us some examples.

If these boys are playing silly buggers then expose their scams for all, name calling is one thing, but to hit them where it hurts it would be more beneficial to highlight (as with the air tickets) what exactly they are (are not) doing that is causing the unrest.

I once went to an interview at Rangsit U. I had to do a demo class to some 3rd yr stu's. Walked in, put my BigC brief case on the table, took out my stolen marker pen and turned around. Only then did i discover the chalkboard glaring at me. The only piece of chalk available was about the size of a squirrel's right knacker. Needless to say, i was unsuccessfull in gaining employment.
Now....If the Uni can't join us all in the challenges of the 21st century, then what do we expect from some pumped up bilingual.
It's true that the word is out on this place.
Do we need more info?
