Topic: VLC (Vancouver Language Centre) in Guadalajara

Hello all!

I've been doing some research into TEFL certificate programs.  So far I am leaning towards VLC in Guadalajara, but I wanted to know if anyone had any direct experience with them.  Is it worth the money?  How was your experience?  Etc. etc.

I have heard ok things about this company. No personal experience, but I do know a few people who completed the program and were generally satisfied. You don't have many choices in Mexico.

Not sure I can agree with that.  Mexico is actually a little saturated, with 5 different course providers and one recently shut down for the saturation.  I guess it depends on your point of view.

When choosing a TEFL course anywhere in the world, but particulary in Mexico. I would ask to see the resume of the course trainer(s). I know a teacher who graduated from VLC and was immediately hired to teach the course! He did have some previous teaching experience, but very minimully. I definately would have been disappointed if he were my instructor.

Is Chiapa de Corzo outside of Tuxtla, up in the mountains near Sumidero Canyon?  That might be far superior to overcrowded Guadalajara, DF, or the intense heat of Tuxtla. 

I forget Playa del Carmen - is that near Ciudad de Carmen in Campeche, or closer to Cozumel and Cancun?  If it's near Ciudad, is that the flamingo preserve, and the gulf water is hot and calm and shallow?
