Employers are taking advantage of the employees absence from work for medical reasons. Though employers have legal obligations to continue during such leaves and not terminate the employee. It's important to maintain good relationships with employees and support them through good times and bad, health and sickness at-least on the humanitarian grounds, but there are plenty of cases which are the other way around.
