Topic: Update English

I just got screwed out of Bt 17,660 worth of wages for 44 hours of teaching TOEIC for November.  After the 1st of December when I went to Update English on Onnuch Soi 16 to collect my wages, I found the place all locked up. And the people around there didn't seem to know what had happened. "Charlie" the manager and "Apple" the office secretary have refused to answer my phone calls to their mobile phones and do not reply to my sms messages.

Does anyone know anything about this place or about "Charlie" that would enable me to hopefully collect my wages?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I think other teachers there may also have been cheated.
Unfortunately, I don't know their names or phone numbers because I never saw them.

I've never heard of the firm but I'm sure there is someone here that knows something about the place!

Are you sure Update English is their business name??

If yes, go to commerce office to get a copy of their business registration.  I will cost you 200Baht.  Bring that to the labor department to file a complaint.  Good luck!!!!!!!

I was interviewed by Update English about 2- months ago. 
He got my number off ajarn resumes.
I went there in shirt & tie.  He interviewed me in singlet, shorts & flip-flops.

The owner aid he was expanding and that more rooms were being added upstairs and I saw work in progress.  It certainly looked like there was room for expansion - although each classroom was  small an only suitable for about 8 students at a time.  It certainly looked like a cheaply run establishment.

I was offered work immediately and since I wasn't working at that time I was going to receive calls when they had students enrolled in new classes for either day or night classes.  I never received any calls.  Perhaps he never got any new students?  I did receive 1 call last month offering a full-time position in Chonburi but by then I had found more suitable work.

The owner was confident there would be lots of work.  He said the area was full of rich people with more disposable income than those in the north of the city.

Sadly I think I no longer have any contact numbers.  All calls that came to me were from mobile phones.  Even that of his receptionist who may also have been his girlfriend.

One can only speculate on why he is now closed.
