ITTO in Guadalajara
« on: November 19, 2006, 09:23:13 PM »
If anyone is contemplating taking an TEFL course in Mexico-I strongly recommend ITTO in Guadalajara.  My girlfriend and I just finished a month long intensive course to attain TEFL certifications and it was worth every penny.  The days are extremely long and challenging, from 9:00 am to (at times) 7:00 pm.  However, during this time, you are provided five hours of classroom instruction ( per day)then you teach next door at an English school (IMAC-Ingles Total).  The students I taught were (almost) overly friendly and respectful. Such a joy to be around.
I cannot say enough kind words about the staff.  ITTO conducts two classes (one upstairs/ one downstairs) by alphabetical order.  I am so lucky to have a name that begins with the letter "C" because I was awarded the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest teachers I have ever met.  This man stopped at nothing to ensure his students were confident about their upcoming lessons.  If you decide to take ITTO's course, put a recomendation that you would like Victor Mendoza as your teacher.  Another teacher, Mark Del Alto, was also extremely helpful.  He too stopped at nothing to provide me with feedback and constructive criticism that I will always cherish.
They have a solid, reputable job assitance program as well.  They guarantee job placement and stop at nothing to fulfill thier promise; very hardworking staff.  Again, worth every penny. I could go on and on, but you get the point.

Yeah, ITTO does have a decent reputation from what I heard through the grapevine. Maybe guy can give his two cents. I'm movin' this over to the tefl course room where it is more appropriate. Thanks for the report.

Not much I can add here...I've never taken their TEFL course, and they are our competitors in Mexico (!) ;)

Good to hear you received excellent instruction and treatment.  It raises the bar for everyone in Mexico when we hear stories like yours.  You'll have to come back and tell us where the job placement program they run was able to place you.

Glad to hear they are good.

I was a little bit concerned when I saw them advertise on a TEFL job website under the heading "guaranteed job placement in Mexico" and when I opened it up it was an advert for their teacher training course.
Not so legal honest decent or truthful advertising but certainly not as bad as some I have come across.

I think the job websites need a moderator or administrator to stop sharks advertising stuff like "make $10 dollars an hour teaching in X" and then when you click on it it says "rate of pay $7 per hour." and dishonest stuff like that.

I think western rules on advertising should be applied on the web sites.
