Wheres the $$$$$$
« on: October 20, 2007, 04:33:29 PM »
Have you ever asked urself where all these big time gangster teaching positions are located?

Ive lived in Bangkok almost 8 years and I havent seen the price for teaching increase more than 50 baht.

It was 300 baht per hour  at "Slaughter Houses" when i arrived.

Government schools got into the game and placed 40,000 baht per month '18 periods" weekly on the table. Outside of this, being a international criminal appears to be the most favored position one could hold.

Was wondering what the the pay was like in some of the more famous ball and chain schools?

I heard 38000-42000  18 periods weekly

Im really sick of the Buzzard recruitment slugs offering 40,000 for 28 periods weekly

I dont know about u guys but i get the feeling some teachers are getting ripped off at both ends

Lost my focus...lets talk about money and who is offering it to teachers

I'm on 40K for 22 hours at a government school, extra pay for anything over 22/week.  EP classes at times have been availiable that pay more.

Asked the teacher that got farangs working there originally, what the original pay was...I was told it hasn't changed for at least 8 years.

S&D, while teachers are willing to accept lower paid jobs the rate of pay is going nowhere. I used to put the blame squarely at the door of BP's but that isn't fair.

The number of retired folk who are taking up positions for 30k just to get a bit of pocket money is amazing, as is the number of bible bashers who will work for peanuts if they have the op to spread 'the word'.

I raised this question mostly out of jealousy of those $100,000+ boys being imported from overseas to teach at the absolutely over-priced international schools.

A 100,000+ I was told over the beer and with a sheepish grin on their part. You know the next question I had to ask " why are you teaching here "? Dont be surprised , we all know the answer that was lightly viled and clearly implied.

Guys !! Something is missing here.

Im sure we all know that waving your creditials and wearing a tie isnt enough to be qualified as a teacher here.

Some of us have been in the fray and the muck of it , the 15 classroom , the 30 classroom , the 55 classroom , the no books classroom and the we dont like farangs classroom.

Is it not time for these school administrators and owners to realize that the expat that stays knows the plays in the game of Teaching English in Thailand?

beating the dead horse syndrome
