Ruamrudee International School, Minburi
« on: October 12, 2007, 09:29:52 AM »
On October 4th, a parent from Ruamrudee had made an appointment to discuss her child's academic situation with the farang principal, and ended up sucker punching the poor guy square in the face. No charges were filed. The woman was asked by the school not to have any more misunderstandings with the principal.  ??? Welcome to Thailand.

Nearest I could come up with was an article where a principal allegedly kicked a student in the head. http://www.bangkokpost.com/News/12Oct2007_news14.php

Student kicked by principal, parents claim

PIYARACH CHONGCHAROEN

Kanchanaburi _ About 100 parents gathered at the provincial education zone 1 office yesterday demanding the removal of a school principal they accuse of kicking a student in the head. Prachin Khiewcha-um, 54, is accused of assaulting Nopparit Siributr, a Mathayom 1 student at Wat Khunthai Thararam school in tambon Rang Salee.

The student's father, Mr Boonlue, led the protest. He said the principal called in a group of students, including his son, on Tuesday to discipline them for misbehaviour.

While the teacher was lecturing them, one of the students whispered jokingly to the others about the school's code of conduct. When his son responded to the remark, the principal mistakenly thought Nopparit was being insolent.

Angry, the teacher walked up to his son and kicked him on the side of his head, Mr Boonlue said.

The students were seated on the floor.

Mr Boonlue demanded Mr Prachin be transferred away from the school and disciplinary action be taken against him.The protest dispersed after Chamnong Yodkham, director of the education zone 2 office, agreed to a fact-finding inquiry, saying it would take about 15 days.

Pending the outcome, the principal would remain in his position.

I think I recently saw Ruamrudee listed as if it's one of the top five or ten international schools in Thailand.  Am I confused?

But isn't this the case with many international schools now?

No money, no honey..... now where have I heard that before?

Thailand has a 7-11 education system when it comes to the private sector particularly. Allow me to elaborate: Ever walked into a 7-11 and found they're out of your favourite brand of orange juice or flavoured milk? You just walk out and go to the one 150 metres down the road and see if they have one there.

Parents will just drag spoilt Johnny around to a place which will give the magic pass.
Learning?

Heaven forbid!!!!  :o
