Super English Surat Thani
« on: September 04, 2007, 01:39:20 PM »
Dear TEFL Watch,

I recently completed a one year contract at Super English in Surat Thani, and I want to give this school thumbs up. The staff was wonderful and helped with all of my visa work. They even picked me up and brought me for Immigration check-ins, health checks, and pictures.   Actually, they did even more than they needed too. One day I was really sick and they brought me to the hospital and helped with translating.  Another time, they helped me find something at the store that I needed. They became my friends and taught me to speak Thai.

My boss and his wife were really great too.  They picked my mom and my aunt up from the airport when they came to visit. They helped me settle into a house. They helped me buy a computer.  They even helped me get glasses.

Super English really treats its teachers like family.  They do a lot to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I’m sad to be leaving the school, and I recommend it for future teachers.

That is good news Bavidrin, always nice to hear about the good experiences.  :righton:

Any chance you can shed any light on the teaching side of things? What were you teaching? What kinda school? rate of pay? holidays? contact hours etc.

What are the requirements to teach for them? Degree? Degree + TEFL? White face?

Surat has had a bit of a bad rep for dodgy language schools and agencies, so it is good news indeed if there is somewhere out there that knows how to treat people better than a soi dog.

hmmmm, no reply from Bavi regarding the teaching side of things, which is a shame...........I'd hate to think it was just a cheap plug for a dodgy school...........no surely not  ???

Anyone else ever heard of Super English - Surathani? Can anyone shed any light on working for SES?

I taught English in Surat Thani (the capital city...okay, town) a long time ago and never heard of the place, but that was then.

Never heard of such things in Thailand, either, so it'd be good to receive a further response to the inquiry by AFT.

 Hello.
I have been working at Super since 2006. I am friends with the member who wrote the initial post. It was a genuine post. I was just surfing the net for all things Super related and this popped up. I remember her writing it. Not sure why she never responded, my guess is she forgot about it. I just wanted to clear the air. It was not a manipulated posting.
Again, I have been a part of Super English since 2006. I have stayed with them for many reasons. Foremost being the teacher first mentality. They understand that happy teachers = happy students. Simple formula but one that many language schools get wrong.
If anyone has any more questions or needs more proof from past teachers about Super English's positive track record they can check out the schools website. Just search Super English Surat and it will come up.
I am responding to old posts, I know, but I have deep loyalty to the school because of all they have done for me. It is important to me that I set the record straight.
