If you haven't got Vista then you can still get the flashy widgets that vista boasts on it's desktop. They are easy to install and there are thousands to choose from and all for free.  Widgets are small items from clocks to weather to the stock market prices and many more that are displayed on your desktop. I've been playing with these widget things today and I found one that would get the latest posts from a forum that has a RSS feed.  I downloaded it and pointed at www.teflwatch.org/forum....no joy.  Does this site have an RSS feed?

I haven't had time to play with them much, but this is some pretty cool stuff!

Oops, sorry, yes we do have an RSS feed.

It's the best, it combines the post feed on the main page, the comment feed on the main page and the feed from this forum.

Here is the forum only feed:

You can change the number in limit to 30, 40, or 50 if you like. I use it to keep track of the forum.

No, I don't. I really don't use the widgets at all because I am one of those crazy guys who uses Linux. Those widgets aren't compatible with Linux.

I only used Unix for about 7 years....one thing you can say about unix is it really does just "mess" up.  Its like the eveready battery rabbit..just keeps running and running!

hahahaha I am dealing with an issue right now where the computer locks up every hour or so and needs a hard boot. I think i've traced it down to the networking, but I'm not sure. Windows on the other hand, died a death not long ago on this machine thanks to the antics of my nieces and their quest for spyware and viruses.

Thanks for the Widgets tip!

I now have 80's Radio Tunes playing on the desktop whilst frittering away my time on a pc.

(In retrospect I'm not sure it was the best widget I could have selected, they just played Erasure.)
