For years, men and women have been heading abroad to teach English. The Teaching English as a Foreign Language profession is practiced by PhD holders on down to the backpacker with no qualification except a desire to earn cash in order to prolong a vacation or gap year.
Over the last dozen or so years there has been a proliferation of TEFL training opportunities, from the tried and true CELTA course to fly by night online TEFL courses. Unfortunately, many of these programs may teach you some of what you need to know to teach, they don’t really provide the tools to make it a calculated personal business. This is where Freelance TEFL comes in.
I made this site to bring together the information, resources and ideas to make TEFL your personal business. Even if you are working for an institute or school, you can own the work that you do and continually create personal value that you can take with you wherever you decide to teach.
There’s the Freelance TEFL blog with all of the latest news, information, and commentary on the TEFL profession. There’s a Freelance TEFL activities section with informative articles on classroom activities. Be sure to check out the Freelance TEFL Forum where you can discuss TEFL issues and concerns around the TEFL world.
As an additional resource for people looking for work, the TEFL Jobs section has you covered. It’s unlike other TEFL jobs sites in that you can leave feedback about the job offers. Previously this resided at its own site but I decided it was best to bring it here.
If there is a resource that you would like to see here or want to leave comments, contact me by using the contact form.
